Who we are
The Soil Science Graduate Program was established in 1976 offering graduate degree at Master of Science level. The Doctor of Science level program began in 2011 aiming to increase the formation of human resources full of research capacity and creativeness, emphasizing the studies in the Brazilian semiarid region.
The Program is linked to the Department of Soil Sciences (DSC) -College of Agricultural Sciences of the Federal University of Ceará. Along with the faculty and academic staff of the DSC, the program joins the participation of professors from other departments, for instance Agricultural Engineering, Plant Science and Biochemistry.
The program has achieved national and international success with interinstitutional partnerships and financial support from CAPES (Procad, International Cooperation, Prodoc, Pró-integração), CNPq (Universal, Casadinho, PNPD, Pró-África), BNB (Fundeci), FUNCAP (DCR, Infraestructure Laboratory Program) and Petrobrás – ANP. At this time, the program has CAPES concept four (4) and has high expectations to consolidate and expand, contributing to the formation of professionals and providing knowledge and experience necessary to the society.
Mission
The Program has the mission of, through Master’s and Doctorate courses, providing students with broad and in-depth training, developing the capacity for research, development and innovation.
